Bill is a senior consultant with Leading Resourses, Inc, specializing in board governance.
He spent 16 years serving as an elected board member of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. Bill has also served for 6 years as a gubernatorial appointee to the governing board of the California Public Employees Retirement System, the largest public pension fund in America as well as the second largest provider of health care after the federal government.
Prior to his leadership roles on these boards, he served on two publicly-traded commercial bank boards as well as on various non-profit boards. His board service has included B’nai Israel, the Jewish Federation, JCFW, KVIE, and the Madison Valley Medical Center Foundation.
His long career in investment banking focused on financing IT projects for government agencies throughout the western US.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Texas. He is married to Kent Newton and they have two children and three grandchildren. He resides with his wife in San Francisco and Cameron, MT.
